Review
"His insights may cause you to look at the civil service in a whole new light. Stevenson writes from a British point of view, and many of his examples are based in London, but readers everywhere will glean useful tips. getAbstract recommends his surprisingly breezy advice to leaders in either sector." Good lessons on management - whatever your industry
By John B
The Public Sector: Managing the unmanageable provides excellent advice on managing people regardless of nationality or industry. The three sections I found most useful are "Setting Targets", "Recruiting for Public Sector", and "Managing Decision Making". Everyone can learn how to better set targets and manage decision making. The suggestions on recruiting are applicable to any client facing group that deals with coordinating competing interests. In other words, pretty much everybody. I highly recommend adding this book to your arsenal of management tools.
